COVID-19 and Paid Sick Leave Laws

A number of states and localities have implemented emergency paid sick leave orders/ordinances in order to provide emergency supplemental paid sick leave to employees not covered by the federal Families First Coronavirus Act (FFCRA). Below please find a chart detailing these state and local emergency paid sick leave requirements. We will continue to update this chart periodically, so please check back for updates.

7/17/2020 Update–More new emergency paid sick leave laws have been added to the chart along with information on existing paid sick leave laws that now allow for accrued sick leave to be used for COVID-19 related purposes.

1/8/2021 Update–More emergency paid sick leave laws have been added to the chart along with information on effective date extensions for previously enacted emergency paid sick leave laws.

4/26/2021 Update–Chart revised to reflect emergency paid sick leave law amendments and to include new laws. Effective date extensions for previously enacted emergency paid sick leave laws have also been updated as necessary.
